Open surgical and other joint operations: Open surgical arthrodesis: Subtalar joint: One joint chamber
You had an operation to stiffen your lower ankle (talotarsal joint).
At their lower end, the two lower leg bones have a bony prominence. These bony prominences on the ankles are called malleolus bones. The ankle joint is between the lower leg and the foot. There is an upper and lower ankle joint. The lower ankle joint consists of different bones in the heel and has various sub-joints.
A damaged lower ankle joint can cause various discomforts. To prevent discomfort, the joint can be stiffened in a favorable position. This should enable you to be able to use your foot better.
You had an operation to set two bones in your lower ankle joint into a favorable position and connect them firmly together. As a result, part of your talotarsal joint has stiffened up. Screws or clips, for example, can be used to do this.
