Open surgical and other joint operations: Open surgical arthrodesis: Tarsus and/or metatarsus: Two joint compartments

Joints in your foot have been surgically stiffened.

The foot is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. The lower leg is connected to the tarsus. Then comes the metatarsus and then the individual toes. The tarsus consists of 7 tarsal bones. The tarsal bones form the rear part of the foot. The metatarsus consists of 5 elongated metatarsal bones.

Damaged tarsal or metatarsal joints can cause various difficulties. To prevent difficulties, joints can be stiffened in a favorable position.

The surgery involved joining the bones firmly to one another in two joints. Metal screws or plates, for example, can be used to do this.
