You have had one or more spacers inserted into a joint.
Spacers can be used when an artificial joint is being removed, for example.
There are various kinds of spacers. Some spacers stiffen the joint. The spacers may also be coated in drugs that kill pathogens.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
