Operations on the spine: Other operations on the spine: Implantation of material in a vertebral body with use of a system for intravertebral, instrumental vertebral body alignment: 1 vertebral body
You had an operation to insert material into a vertebral body.
The spine is made up of the individual vertebrae. Between every 2 vertebrae there is a vertebral disc. Most vertebrae consist of a vertebral body and a vertebral arch. The vertebral body bears the weight of the body. The vertebral arches lie on top of one another to form the spinal canal. The spinal cord lies in the vertebral canal. Various disorders or heavy loading can cause the vertebral body of a vertebra to become compressed.
You have had material inserted into a vertebral body. The operation involved the use of an instrument that can prop up compressed vertebral bodies. The material may be metal or a special bone cement, for example.
Additional indicator
