You have had surface layers of skin removed from your upper arm or elbow.

The skin is made up of multiple layers. The epidermis is on the outside. The epidermis does not get any blood. Below this is the dermis. There are lots of blood vessels and nerves in the dermis. Below the dermis is the subcutaneous tissue. It contains fatty tissue and connective tissue.

A sharp tool has been used to shave off the surface layers of skin on your upper arm or elbow.
