Other operations on skin and hypoderm: Removal of surface layers of skin: Chemosurgery, large area: Chest wall and back
You have had surface layers of skin removed from your chest or back.
The skin is made up of multiple layers. The epidermis is on the outside. The epidermis does not get any blood. Below this is the dermis. There are lots of blood vessels and nerves in the dermis. Below the dermis is the subcutaneous tissue. It contains fatty tissue and connective tissue.
A drug which makes the upper layers of skin peel off was applied to the skin of your chest or back. In this way, those layers of skin were removed.
