During surgery you had a large wound temporarily sealed using synthetic material.
Some wounds cannot be definitively sealed straight away. This may be the case, for example, if large pieces of skin are missing or if the wound needs to be regularly cleaned.
However, the exposed tissue in the wound then needs to be protected against drying out and against germs. This type of tissue may involve muscles, tendons and connective tissue, for example. To protect this exposed tissue, the wound can be temporarily sealed. The wound may be definitively sealed in subsequent surgery.
A wound in your lower leg has been temporarily sealed.
