You have had a wound treated. A special system was used that produces constant negative pressure.

You have had a wound in your abdomen treated.

A sort of sponge was inserted into the wound. This sponge is connected to a pump by a tube. Air is then continuously sucked through the tube. In this way, the system produces negative pressure in the wound.

Treatment using negative pressure enables wound fluid and any pathogens present to be sucked out of wounds. Another aim of the treatment is to provide a better blood supply to the wounds and seal them up again more quickly.
