5-989:
Special surgical techniques and operations in special care situations: Fluorescence-assisted therapy
Your treatment involved the use of special substances that can light up.
For treatment purposes, the substances can be injected into a blood vessel or drunk, for example. They then spread through the body and adhere to certain tissues.
During an operation, when this tissue is examined using a special light, the substances light up in a particular color. This can help to differentiate changed tissue from healthy tissue, for example, and to remove it. The blood supply in a particular area is also sometimes assessed in this way.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
