8-015.0:
Administration of medication and nutrients: Enteral nutritional therapy as main medical treatment: Via probe
You have been fed through a tube in your stomach or bowel.
A tube like this may be a gastric probe, for example. If the feeding is only to be done for a short time, the gastric tube is inserted via the nose. Food and fluids then pass through the tube to the stomach. The tube is also sometimes pushed further on, to the first section of the bowel.
When someone is fed through a tube into their stomach or intestine, the body should be given sufficient quantities of all nutrients and vitamins.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
