8-125.2:
Manipulation of digestive tract: Insertion and replacement of duodenal or jejunal feeding tube: Via a PEG tube in situ, endoscopically
A feeding tube has been inserted into your small intestine or replaced.
The small intestine is the first part of the intestine, after the stomach. The nutrients from food are absorbed in the small intestine.
Food and drink can be taken through a feeding tube. The feeding tube was inserted through your artificial stomach opening. A laparoscopy was done at the same time in order to get the feeding tube to the right place.
A laparoscopy involves inserting a tube with a camera through the oesophagus into the top of the small intestine. Instruments such as forceps and scissors can be pushed through at the front of the tube.
