8-127.1:
Manipulation of digestive tract: Endoscopic insertion and removal of gastric balloon: Removal
Your gastric balloon has been removed.
The stomach is located in the upper left abdomen. The stomach stores food and breaks it down further. Harmful pathogens are also killed by gastric acid in the stomach. The stomach thus prepares the food for digestion in the intestines.
A gastric balloon is made of silicon and, when it has been implanted, it is filled with fluid. This means there is less space for food in the stomach. A gastric balloon should cause a person to feel full more quickly. In this way, it should help them to lose weight.
The treatment involved inserting a tube through your mouth and pushing it into your stomach. The balloon, folded up, was removed from your stomach through this tube.
