Manipulation of urinary tract: Replacement and removal of nephrostomy tube: Replacement without surgical dilation
Your urine flows through a tube in your back and into a bag. This tube has now been replaced.
A tube was inserted into your kidney via the skin at the side of your back. These types of tube are usually made of plastic. The tip of the tube sits in the renal pelvis. Each kidney is made up of renal tissue and a renal pelvis. The renal tissue makes up the urine. The urine gathers in the renal pelvis. The urine flows through the tube from the renal pelvis and straight into a bag.
The old tube has been removed and a new tube has been inserted. Pictures are usually taken of the inside of your body at the same time. So it is very clear where the tip of the tube is.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
