Manipulation of urinary tract: Replacement and removal of nephrostomy tube: Removal

In the past your urine drained through a tube in your back and into a bag. This tube has now been removed.

A tube was inserted into your kidney via the skin at the side of your back. These types of tube are usually made of plastic. The tip of the tube sits in the renal pelvis. Each kidney is made up of renal tissue and a renal pelvis. The renal tissue makes up the urine. The urine gathers in the renal pelvis. The urine flows through the tube from the renal pelvis and straight into a bag.

The tube has been removed.
