Other forms of therapeutic catheterization and cannulation: Therapeutic drainage of pleural cavity: Small bore, indwelling
You have had a tube inserted into the space around your lungs.
The lungs are surrounded by a smooth membrane. A smooth membrane like this is also located inside the ribs. There is a narrow cavity between the two membranes. This cavity is filled with some fluid.
A tube can be used to drain any fluid or air, for example, that has collected from the space around the lungs. The tube is inserted through a small incision in the chest and it is connected to a collector. The tube usually stays in the body for a few days.
Additional indicator
