Dressings and removal of diseased tissue on epidermis and hypodermis: Specialized dressing techniques: Vacuum therapy with continuous suction treatment using pump system: More than 21 days
You have had a wound treated. A special system was used that produces constant negative pressure.
A sort of sponge was inserted into the wound. This sponge is connected to a pump by a tube. Air is then continuously sucked through the tube. In this way, this system creates negative pressure in the wounds.
Treatment using negative pressure enables wound fluid and any pathogens present to be sucked out of wounds. Another aim of the treatment is to provide a better blood supply to the wounds and seal them up again more quickly.
In all, the negative pressure system was used on you for over three weeks.
