Eine Behandlung mit Strahlen wird auch Strahlentherapie genannt. Bei einer Strahlentherapie wird ein Gerät eingesetzt, das besonders energiereiche Strahlen bildet. Mit diesen Strahlen werden ausgewählte Bereiche des Körpers bestrahlt. Die Strahlen sollen krankhaftes Gewebe zerstören. Die Bestrahlung wird so durchgeführt, dass gesundes Gewebe so gut wie möglich geschützt wird. Mit Hilfe von Bildern des Körpers lässt sich genauer einstellen, welche Bereiche bestrahlt werden.
