Radiotherapy: Other high voltage radiotherapy: Intraoperative radiotherapy
During tumor surgery you were treated with radiation.
Treatment with radiation is also called radiotherapy. Radiotherapy involves the use of a device that forms particularly high-energy rays. These rays are used to target radiation at specific areas of the body to destroy diseased tissue. Radiation is carried out in such a way that healthy tissue is protected as much as possible.
The rays were used on your body once the tumor had been removed. After this kind of tumor removal, individual tumor cells may remain in the body. The rays are supposed to destroy these tumor cells.
