Radiotherapy: Construction and adjustment of fixation and treatment aids in radiotherapy: Fixation system, simple
Your treatment with radiation involved special aids being made and applied.
Treatment with radiation is also called radiotherapy. Radiotherapy involves the use of a device that forms particularly high-energy rays. These rays are used to target radiation at specific areas of the body to destroy diseased tissue. Radiation is carried out in such a way that healthy tissue is protected as much as possible.
These aids can be used to keep your body in a fixed position during the radiotherapy. Depending on the area of the body to be given radiation, different aids can be used, for example masks or moldable cushions. This is to ensure that only the mapped out areas are given radiation in a very targeted manner.
