Radiotherapy: Construction and adjustment of fixation and treatment aids in radiotherapy: Attachment of stereotactic frame
Your treatment with radiation involved special aids being made and applied.
Treatment with radiation is also called radiotherapy. Radiotherapy involves the use of a device that forms particularly high-energy rays. These rays are used to target radiation at specific areas of the body to destroy diseased tissue. Radiation is carried out in such a way that healthy tissue is protected as much as possible.
These aids can be used to keep your body in a fixed position during the radiotherapy. For radiotherapy of your head, a special ring can be used to hold your head securely in a fixed position. This ring is usually attached to the head under local anesthetic. This is to ensure that only the mapped out areas are given radiation in a very targeted manner.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
