Sie wurden mit mehreren Medikamenten behandelt, die gegen spezielle Viren eingesetzt werden.
Zu diesen speziellen Viren gehören unter anderem die HI-Viren. HI-Viren können das körpereigene Abwehrsystem schädigen und dadurch die HIV-Erkrankung verursachen. Man kann sich dann zum Beispiel schneller mit anderen Krankheits-Erregern anstecken. Die Medikamente werden typischerweise eingesetzt, wenn man sich mit HI-Viren angesteckt hat. Die Behandlung soll dafür sorgen, dass sich die Viren im Körper nicht so leicht vermehren können.
