Individual physiotherapy measures: Light therapy: Light therapy in newborns (for hyperbilirubinemia)
Light therapy was carried out due to neonatal jaundice.
Blood is made up of a liquid part and different blood cells, among other things. The blood cells include the red blood cells, the white blood cells and the platelets. When red blood cells break down, bilirubin is formed. Bilirubin is yellow.
In neonatal jaundice, too much bilirubin has accumulated in the blood. Light therapy is intended to help break down and excrete the bilirubin. The skin is treated with blue light for this purpose.
