8-640.1:

Electrical reversion of cardiac arrhythmias: External electrical defibrillation (cardioversion): Desynchronized (defibrillation)

Your heart has been treated with one or more short, sharp electric shocks.

The heart pumps blood through the body. In the process, the blood flows through blood vessels. The blood supplies all areas of the body with oxygen and nutrients.

If the heart is not beating at the right rhythm or right speed, it can be life-threatening. So your heart was treated with one or more short, sharp electric shocks. Treatment like this aims to get the heart beating normally again. The heart is treated with sharp electric shocks if the person is being resuscitated, for example.

The treatment usually involves 2 plasters being placed on the chest. A cable connects these plasters to a device. This device sends a current to the heart.

Additional indicator
