An aid has been used so that you get enough air.
When we breathe, air gets into the lungs via the respiratory tract. The air flows through the mouth or nose into the throat. From the throat, the air goes on into the trachea (windpipe) and then to the lungs.
If the passage for air in the throat has narrowed, an aid can be used to keep the airways open. In this way, the air can go on through the throat to the trachea.
