Mechanical ventilation and respiratory assistance via face mask or tube and weaning from mechanical ventilation: Home mechanical ventilation setup: Initial setup: Invasive home ventilation as elective measure or with no attempt at weaning from mechanical ventilation
You have been given a ventilation device. With this device you will be ventilated outside the hospital.
You need lungs to breath. When we breathe in, oxygen enters the lungs and accumulates in the blood. This blood then flows to the heart. The heart then pumps the oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. All of the organs are supplied with oxygen as a result.
You will be ventilated outside the hospital so that enough oxygen gets into your body. For ventilation purposes, a tube was inserted into your trachea. The tube is connected to a ventilation device. The device blows oxygen-rich air into your lungs.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
