You have had a tube replaced in a vein.

Veins are blood vessels that transport the blood back to the heart. Sometimes treatment requires tubes to be inserted into veins. Tubes like these are inserted into veins in the groin or arm, for example.

The tip of the tube is pushing towards the middle of the body. The other end of the tube hangs a little way out of the body. This end can be used to, for example, take blood, inject medications or supply the body with fluids.
