8-836.c7:
Therapeutic intravascular catheterization and cannulation: (Percutaneous) transluminal angioplasty: Selective embolization with embolic protection: Vena cava
A small umbrella has been used to close one of your venae cavae.
The venae cavae are large blood vessels. They collect oxygen-poor blood from the body and carry it back to the heart. There is a superior and inferior vena cava.
A catheter was used in the treatment. A catheter is a thin tube. This tube is inserted into a blood vessel in the groin or arm, and pushed further in. Various instruments can be pushed at the front of the tube. X-ray images are taken during the treatment. These show clearly whether the tip of the tube is in the right place.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
