Therapeutic intravascular catheterization and cannulation: (Percutaneous) transluminal angioplasty on vessels of the pulmonary circulation: Implantation of pressure sensor in pulmonary artery
A catheter has been used to implant a pressure sensor into your pulmonary artery.
A catheter is a thin tube. This tube is inserted into a blood vessel in the groin or arm, and pushed further in. Various instruments can be pushed at the front of the tube. X-ray images are taken during the treatment. These show clearly whether the tip of the catheter is in the right place.
The pressure sensor continuously measures the pressure in your pulmonary arteries and sends the values to a device outside your body. Whether or not the heart is able to pump enough blood can be monitored in this way.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
