You have been given lung replacement treatment.

A device for lung replacement treatment can assist or replace the function of the lungs. In a device like this the blood is enriched with oxygen and freed of carbon dioxide outside the body. To achieve this, the blood flows continuously through a tube to the device and through another tube back to the body again. A machine for lung replacement treatment may also have a pump so that it can assist the heart too.
