Complex multimodal treatment: Inpatient treatment prior to transplant: Minimum 30 to maximum 49 days of treatment: Prior to heart and lung transplant

You were treated in hospital for a few weeks before you were given a heart and lung from another person.

The heart pumps blood through the body. In the process, the blood flows through blood vessels. The blood supplies all areas of the body with oxygen and nutrients. You need lungs to breath. When we breathe in, oxygen enters the lungs and accumulates in the blood. This blood then flows to the heart. The heart then pumps the oxygen-rich blood throughout the body. All of the organs are supplied with oxygen as a result.

Someone is given a heart and lung from another person when their own heart and lung stop working well enough.

Additional indicator

If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.

  • L: Left
  • R: Right
  • B: Both sides

Further information

Note

Your doctor will assist you with any health-related questions and explain the OPS code to you in a direct consultation if necessary.
