8-97c.31:
Complex multimodal treatment: Inpatient treatment after placement on waiting list for organ transplant: Minimum 44 to maximum 57 days of treatment: Prior to heart transplant
You were treated in hospital for a few weeks in preparation for a donor heart.
The heart pumps blood through the body. In the process, the blood flows through blood vessels. The blood supplies all areas of the body with oxygen and nutrients.
Someone is given a donor heart when their own heart stops working well enough. There is usually a very limited number of donor organs available. So there is a waiting list for the relevant donor organ. You are on the waiting list for a donor heart.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
