Complex multimodal treatment: Inpatient treatment after placement on waiting list for organ transplant: Up to 15 days of treatment: Prior to kidney transplant
You were treated in hospital for a few days in preparation for a donor kidney.
There are normally 2 kidneys in the body. They filter blood and create urine. They thus help to detoxify the body. Furthermore, the kidneys regulate the blood pressure and salt content in the blood, among other things.
Someone is given a donor kidney when their own kidney stops working well enough. There is usually a very limited number of donor organs available. So there is a waiting list for the relevant donor organ. You are on the waiting list for a donor kidney.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
