You have been infected with meningococci.
You have been infected by certain bacteria called meningococci. These bacteria are typically transmitted person-to-person, for example by sneezing or shaking hands. The bacteria have caused inflammation in your heart.
The heart pumps blood through the body. In the process, the blood flows through blood vessels. The blood supplies all areas of the body with oxygen and nutrients.
When the heart is inflamed, it may no longer be able to pump blood through the body so well.
