You have been found to have a vitamin B2 deficiency.
Vitamins are substances the body needs for many tasks. The body is unable produce most vitamins by itself. These vitamins must be taken in through food. There are various B vitamins. These are distinguished with successive numbers.
Vitamin B2 is a component of many proteins. These proteins help prepare energy in the body. Vitamin B2 is most notably contained in dairy products, meat and vegetables.
You may have taken insufficient vitamin B2 with your food. In some situations, your body needs more vitamin B2 than normally. You can then take additional vitamin B2 by injection or as tablets.
If you have insufficient vitamin B2 in your body, you may have various symptoms. Your lips may be swollen, dry or cracked. Your fingernails may also be brittle.
