E55.0: Rickets, active

You have been found to have a vitamin D deficiency. You have bone discomfort due to the vitamin D deficiency.

Vitamin D is important for bone hardness, for example. Calcium and phosphate are stored in the bones by vitamin D. Bone thus hardens. Vitamin D moreover has effects on the intestines, skin or blood cells.

The body can create vitamin D itself. Sunlight is required for that. The intestines, liver and kidneys are involved in creating vitamin D. You can also take vitamin D with food. However, this only makes up a small part of your body’s vitamin D.

You have bone discomfort due to the vitamin D deficiency. If you are growing and have too little vitamin D, your bones may not grow properly. The bones may then not grow evenly or be too soft and break.
