You are suffering from the long-term effects of polio.
Polio is a disease that is transmitted by viruses. With polio, one may no longer be able to move various muscles properly. Decades after polio, muscles can become sore and gradually weaken. These long-term effects can also affect muscles which were not initially palsied.
