H35.4: Peripheral retinal degeneration
The retina in your eye is damaged.
The retina is a layer inside the eye. It contains a lot of sensory cells that can perceive light. There are sensory cells for colors and sensory cells for light and dark. The sensory cells pass the information on to the nerve cells in the optic nerve.
Your retina is damaged. The outer areas of your retina are particularly affected.
If outer areas of the retina are damaged, there are usually no symptoms at all. The damaged retina can become detached in rare cases.
