I72.5: Aneurysm and dissection of other precerebral arteries

Various arteries in the neck run to the brain and supply blood to the brain. One of your arteries has got wider or has torn.

There are several arteries in the neck. There are arteries for the brain and arteries for the face. These large arteries give off smaller arteries. One of your arteries has got wider or has torn. This vascular wall consists of 3 layers. The inner layer can tear. As a result, blood can get in between the layers of the vascular wall.

This can occur, for example, when someone has persistent high blood pressure, or if the vascular wall weakens.

This widening of a blood vessel usually goes unnoticed. A tear in the vascular wall can cause pain.
