L71.0: Perioral dermatitis
The skin on your face has become inflamed.
These skin changes can occur when using too much moisturizing cream, for example. This upsets the skin’s natural balance. The skin then becomes susceptible to certain pathogens and becomes inflamed. The condition may be made worse by increased exposure to the sun.
The affected areas of the skin are often red and flaky. There are usually spots on the face, too. The area around the mouth is usually affected. However, the skin changes can also occur around the eyes and nose. The affected areas of the skin can get tight or feel as though they are burning. The skin is occasionally itchy.
