O62.4: Hypertonic, incoordinate, and prolonged uterine contractions

Your contractions were too strong, too frequent or too irregular.

During labor, the muscles of the uterus contract. During the birth contractions push the child out of the uterus. Contractions take place mainly towards the end of the pregnancy and during childbirth.

If the contractions are too strong, then you cannot rest so well between contractions. This can quickly exhaust you. If the contractions come too quickly, then the uterus may not be able to relax properly between the contractions. The uterus can then also be constantly tense and tight.

If the contractions are too strong, too quick or too irregular, then the labor may not progress as normal. The child may also be inadequately supplied with oxygen.
