T86.09: Graft-versus-host disease, unspecified
After you were given stem cells from another person, you had problems.
Stem cells are cells that can develop into different types of cells. For example, blood cells can develop from stem cells. Stem cells are found in the blood and inside some bones. Some time ago you were given stem cells from another person. Your body was damaged after you received stem cells. There can be different reasons for this. When stem cells are donated, you can also receive some immune cells from the donor. The donated immune cells may, after a short time, attack the tissue in the body. Immune cells that attack and damage the tissue in the body can also develop from the donated cells later on.
The skin or the digestive organs can get damaged after a stem cell donation, for example.
If the skin was damaged, you may have a rash, for example. If the digestive organs were damaged, you may have abdominal pains or diarrhea, for example.
