Z12.3: Special screening examination for neoplasm of breast

A special examination was carried out on your breast.

The breast is made up of fatty tissue, connective tissue and the mammary gland. Milk is produced in the mammary gland during and after pregnancy so that the child can be fed.

The examination was to see whether you have a tumor disease. The tissue in the body is made up of cells. A tumor disorder involves the cells multiplying more than normal. This results in abnormal or excess tissue forming. A tumor can be benign or malignant. Pieces of tissue may be examined, for example. Sometimes images of your breast’s insides will also be taken.
