Z95.1: Presence of aortocoronary bypass graft

In the past you had heart bypass surgery.

The heart is supplied with oxygen-rich blood via the coronary arteries. The coronary arteries are blood vessels that run around the outside of the heart.

Bypass surgery bridges narrowed or closed coronary arteries using replacement blood vessels. The replacement blood vessels then guide the blood past the affected sites. As a result, the heart should be better supplied with blood.

Your own blood vessels can be used as the replacement blood vessels. For example, blood vessels from the leg or ribcage are used. But the replacement blood vessels may also be made of synthetic material.
