Other operations on nerves and nerve ganglia: Other operations on nerves and ganglia: Pulsed radiofrequency treatment for ganglia: By multifunction electrode
You have been given a special pain treatment on one or more ganglia.
When a person has pain somewhere in their body, pain information is passed to the brain via nerves. In different places in the body there are so-called ganglia. Nerves are connected up to one another in these ganglia. Treating the ganglia aims to affect the passing on of the pain information.
To carry out the treatment a special needle is inserted through the skin and pushed along to the ganglion concerned. At the same time, images of the inside of the body are produced. That way it is possible to see exactly where the needle is. Electrical impulses can be sent via the needle to the ganglion concerned. Drugs can also be delivered to the ganglion concerned. The needle also sometimes stays in the body for a while for further treatment.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
- L: Left
- R: Right
- B: Both sides
