5-432.03:
Incision, excision and resection of stomach: Operations on the pylorus: Pyloromyotomy: Endoscopic
Your pylorus has been enlarged.
The stomach is located in the upper abdomen. The stomach has a curved shape, and is connected to the gullet (oesophagus) at its upper end and with the first part of the small intestine at its lower end. Between the stomach and the small intestine is a ring-shaped valve, the pylorus. The inside of the stomach is lined with mucous membrane.
The treatment involved making an incision in your pylorus. This enlarged your gastric outlet.
You had a laparoscopy in order to do the treatment. A laparoscopy involves pushing a tube into the stomach via the mouth. A camera is attached to the end of the tube. This camera then sends images to a screen during the examination. It can then be seen whether the tissue is healthy or changed. The tube can also be used to push through small tools such as scissors.
