Cytostatic chemotherapy, immunotherapy and antiretroviral therapy: Other immunotherapy: With non-modified antibodies
You were treated with specific antibodies.
Antibodies are defensive substances that also occur in the body. These defensive substances identify certain characteristics of cells or messengers and they can attach themselves to them in a targeted way. Antibodies can be synthetically manufactured to treat certain illnesses. Their purpose is to help the body’s own immune system to combat an illness. This type of treatment is also known as immunotherapy.
For example, synthetically manufactured antibodies are used in the case of rheumatic disorders that cause inflammation throughout the body. Antibodies of this type can also be used with various cancers, such as breast cancer and lymph node cancer. With a cancer, the body’s cells change and multiply unchecked. Synthetically manufactured antibodies can identify cells like these that have changed in a targeted way, and thus ensure that the immune system combats them. Some antibodies can also inhibit an illness by capturing certain messengers.
A variety of complaints can occur with an immunotherapy. These complaints depend on which antibodies have been administered. The patient may get a high temperature or a chill, for example.
