8-856:
Extracorporeal circulation and treatment of blood: Haemoperfusion
Certain substances have been cleansed from your blood.
The kidneys and the liver usually cleanse the blood. In some cases the kidneys and the liver are no longer able to excrete certain substances from the body. These substances may be, for example, various toxins or overdosed medications. Your blood has been cleansed of substances like these by a machine.
To do this, your blood was routed to the machine via tubes. A special material in this machine then bound the harmful substances to itself. Your cleansed blood was then sent back to your body via tubes.
Additional indicator
If necessary, additional letters are appended to OPS codes to indicate which side of the body is affected.
