M93.1: Kienböck disease of adults
You have damaged a carpal bone.
The hand is made up of a lot of small bones and joints. Immediately after the forearm is the carpus. Then comes the metacarpus and then the individual fingers. The carpus consists of 8 carpal bones. There are 2 rows of them. The lower row is closer to the wrist. The upper row is closer to the fingers.
You have damaged the carpal bone known as the lunate bone. This carpal bone is close to the wrist. When the lunate bone is damaged the hand may be painful at that site. The wrist may be less mobile and swell up. With this disorder, the lunate bone can die off.
